“The world is inconceivable without science, and design is hardly possible without scientific theory.” (Meier 2003: 15)

The seminar offers fundamental insights into positions in the theory of science through joint reading and thus creates the basis for an intensive examination of the concept of science.The main features of design research are presented and illustrated by means of exemplary design projects. In addition, different reference disciplines are crystallized for the master's projects, their concepts, theories and methods are presented and discussed together. Anintensive examination of postcolonial, feminist and critical theory, philosophical and social issues and the appropriate application of scientific methods is central to the integration of theory and practice as well as to the generation of ensure knowledge in the design process.
