TOOLKIDS is a design workshop for schoolchildren that teaches the subject as a practical and learnable process. The aim of the project is to sensitize children to creative thinking at an early age and to provide them with tools with which they can develop and implement their own ideas.

The focus is on a child-friendly design process that does not aim at a finished product, but at the creative work itself. Participants go through various phases, from observation and brainstorming to sketching and experimenting to implementation. They are encouraged to develop their own solutions and to playfully engage with materials, forms, and ideas.
The central element of the workshop is the TOOLKIDS BOX, which combines analog materials and theoretical impulses. The box supports the children in working independently, making decisions, and taking responsibility for their process.

The TOOLKIDS project has a modular structure and can be flexibly integrated into everyday school life as a teaching sequence. Whether as part of a lesson, a double lesson, or a day workshop. With the help of the instructions and the module handbook, the workshop can be implemented in various forms.

In addition to teaching basic design principles, TOOLKIDS promotes key social and emotional skills such as teamwork, self-organization, perseverance, and self-efficacy. In an increasingly complex world, TOOLKIDS sees itself as contributing to a modern education that empowers children to tackle problems creatively and responsibly.
