In her master's project, Lorna Bittner dealt with the colonization of the night by electric light. In her introduction, she describes the history of the night as a history of many upheavals. Above all, urbanization and industrialization changed the reception of the day-night rhythm. The symbolic, social, economic and cultural significance of light spread from the western industrialized nations. Artificial light displaced natural darkness. Lorna Bittner has developed an impressive exhibition from this complex topic, which provides insights into the phenomenon of night in the form of various exhibits, such as immersive installations, photographs, projections, participatory elements and a darkroom.
